Why Dan Started LockFirst
Dan founded LockFirst after seeing first hand how badly some homeowners and businesses were treated when they needed a locksmith. The trade has a well earned problem with rogue traders. Companies advertise a low price that is misleadingly low, charge a call-out fee that was never mentioned, drill locks that could have been opened without damage, and leave customers a long way out of pocket at the worst possible moment.
Dan wanted to build something different. A locksmith service rooted in the values every customer deserves. A fair price, a straight price before anyone leaves, genuine local knowledge, work done properly the first time, and honest advice even when that advice means a smaller job or no job at all.
LockFirst was built around those principles. Every locksmith on the team shares them. Every job we carry out reflects them. That is not a marketing line. It is the reason the business exists.
Every LockFirst locksmith works across North West London every single day. When you call, you speak to somebody who already knows your area, knows which roads are slow at that time of day, and knows which door and lock types are most common on your street. That local knowledge saves time on every job.
The most expensive answer is not always the right one. We look at every lock, door and mechanism before recommending any work. If a repair is possible, we repair. If a cylinder swap is all that is needed rather than a full mechanism replacement, that is what we will tell you. We earn your trust by saving you money, not by spending it.
When you ring LockFirst, a locksmith answers. Not a call centre, not a booking agent who passes your job to whoever is nearest. You get a straight answer about what is wrong, how long we will be and what it will cost, from the person who is coming out to you.
If your job falls outside what we can do on the first visit, or if we need to source a part, we tell you immediately and explain the next steps. We do not show up, look at the problem and then tell you we need to come back with different tools. We arrive prepared or we tell you before we leave.
Replacing a lock is faster and more profitable than repairing one. That is exactly why so many locksmiths default to replacement. LockFirst takes the time to work out whether a repair is possible first. When it is, we repair. When it genuinely is not, we explain why before fitting anything.
The price we give you on the phone is the price you pay. It covers parts, labour and everything needed to complete the job. No call-out fee. No VAT surprise on arrival. No upcharge because the job took longer than expected. What we quote is what you pay.

Called LockFirst after being quoted an extortionate price by another company. Dan’s team gave me a fixed price on the phone, arrived within 40 minutes and sorted the lock without any of the drama the first company was suggesting. Honest, professional and exactly what you want.
Emma R. — Hampstead
I manage rental properties across London and LockFirst are the only locksmiths I trust. Fast, reliable, the price is always what they say it will be and they never try to upsell work that is not needed. Would not use anyone else.
David H. — Belsize Park
Moved into a new house in Sutton Coldfield and LockFirst came the same day to change all the locks. The locksmith explained exactly what he was fitting and why. Really reassuring to have someone that clearly knows what they are talking about.
Locked out at midnight on a Sunday. LockFirst arrived in under 40 minutes, opened the door without any damage and did not try to sell me anything I did not need. The price on the phone was the price I paid. Brilliant.
